The AGE-MEDU project was officially launched to advance geriatric education for nurses and technicians. The first meeting, held on September 26th, set the groundwork for management and implementation.
The project seeks to improve geriatric education in higher institutions across the EU by fostering international cooperation. It will develop an innovative education program in geriatrics and gerontology in Croatia, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Greece.
Key activities include research on educational needs, policy recommendations, educational materials development, and a VR training platform. The project will also train educators and disseminate findings through events.
AGE-MEDU aims to equip healthcare professionals with essential skills to address the challenges of an ageing population. The next steps include developing a questionnaire to assess the needs and gaps in nursing education regarding geriatrics and gerontology.
